Assignment
The Rugby World Cup is the most prestigious event in the rapidly growing sport of Rugby Union. Despite its minimal presence in the United States, the 2031 edition has the potential of growing the game in a similar fashion to soccer’s grand entrance in 1994. 
Approach
I developed a brand that embraced the fluidity and strength of the sport while using the event as an opportunity for connection. The varied use of color and ribbon motif are applied into a seamless identity that extends to stadium graphics, advertising, and merchandise. The use of a non-traditional red and blue still connect to America, while the rainbow motif is a colorful representation of international connection.
Results
The 2031 Rugby World Cup brand successfully showcases community and connection around the growing sport. The identity places the ribbon at the center of the campaign, emphasizing the free-flowing nature of Rugby. The different logo treatments show the versatility of the brand, while the typography speaks to the sport’s sophisticated strength.
